Greetings! My name is Adam Christie and I am the Artistic Director for The 502 Singers. With a rich choral and orchestral background, hailing from Concordia College, Moorhead, having studied with Rene Clausen, and having worked with some of the finest conductors and choirs in the world, I invite you to join me in participating in Louisville’s Semi-Professional Choir. I am aware that you likely have your own schedule and obligations and to join something new would be a commitment. I also understand that given your music background, it’s not appealing to subject oneself to someone else’s music direction unless they provide unparalleled musical insight.
The 502 Singers is a Semi-Professional choir, modeled after "The Singers" out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. “The Singers” is the old “Dale Warland Singers” but is now under the direction of Matthew Culloton. It contains the best musicians, with a good portion of them being teachers and musicians with extensive music backgrounds. They commit to seasons, not an entire year. Some singers come for one season, some have been apart of the group for 20 years, coming and going as the season of life allows them.
This group will take what you can give. Personally, when I sing in a group, I don’t want to lead, I just want to sing. Other times, that desire to lead or give input is much stronger- I have more to give.
The basis of this group is to achieve the highest musical goals, which includes YOUR INPUT, YOUR interpretation, YOUR emotions, your intentionality, your musicality, and your voice. A Semi-Professional choir is running at it’s highest levels when everyone has a say in how the music is performed. You may conduct. You may lead. But what is all but certain, you will be changed for the better for having been apart of this endeavor.
Everyone brings their experience to the table and with their experience comes ideas and musicality which helps every piece of music come to life.
This group is a bridge. A bridge between races, ethnicities, political beliefs, religions, cultures, and peoples. This bridge needs you to be apart of it to provide this area with a music and endeavor that it desperately needs. Are you up to chat? Or are you in? I’d love to set up a time to do an audition where I can hear you sing.
Sincerely,
Adam Christie
